A beacon of music from the Lithuanian seaside, the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra makes its debut at the most important forum of contemporary music in Lithuania. And it is not an ordinary debut either – a project prepared in cooperation with the Music Innovation Studies Centre of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre will attempt to achieve a different orchestral sound in the actual field of spatial sound. Together with first-rate Lithuanian performers – pianist Guoda Gedvilaitė, cellist and the orchestra’s artistic director Mindaugas Bačkus and percussionist Pavel Giunter – the orchestra has prepared an ambitious international programme featuring, along with dazzling opuses by the stars of contemporary music Kaija Saariaho and David Lang, the premieres of Ričardas Kabelis’s and Egidija Medekšaitė’s latest works.
