CRASH ENSEMBLE (Ireland)

Terry Riley Loops for Ancient-Giant-Nude-Hairy-Warriors Racing down the Slopes of Battle (2007)
Michael Gordon Light is calling (2004)
Michael Gordon Gene Takes A Drink (2012)
Donnacha Dennehy Streetwalker (2003)
Steve Reich Double Sextet (2007)

Having conquered the concert halls in Europe, the Crash ensemble is preparing a particularly intriguing concert for GAIDA. Ireland has become a promised land to many Lithuanians, just like the United States is home to a great number of Irish emigrants. It seems quite symbolic that the most prominent Irish ensemble of contemporary music brings to Lithuania a programme of post-minimal music consisting mainly of works by the celebrated American composers Steve Reich, Michael Gordon and Terry Riley. The opus by the latter, inspired by a spiral ornament typical of ancient Celtic art, was composed specially for Crash. Irish music is represented by Donnacha Dennehy’s composition with a socially charged title “Streetwalker”.
