You’ve most likely come across many a baritone who can sing in Italian, French, German or English. But how many of these baritones sing forth in the dialect of the Zulu or Chosu tribes? We won’t bother counting, but one thing’s for certain – only Njabulo Madlala can pamper us with such exoticism.
The singer gifted with a creamy tembre and impressive stage presence is today being tempted with a bright opera soloist’s career. However he remembers perfectly well the road taken from the dusty suburban streets of Durban to the grand stages: “This is the journey of my life, reflected in numerous concert programmes. I hope you won’t mind wandering along that road with me...?”
