BALTIC LANDSCAPES

Concert held to mark Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States

Concert organized in cooperation with the EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND IN VILNIUS

SILESIAN STRING QUARTET (Poland):
SZYMON KRZESZOWIEC (I violin)
ARKADIUSZ KUBICA (II violin)
ŁUKASZ SYRNICKI (viola)
PIOTR JANOSIK (cello)

It is said that listening to this quartet equals a royal treat for the soul. Each appearance draws crowds of fans to prestigious concert halls, and this time, they will beckon the audiences of the Christopher Summer Festival.
In the music world, the Silesian String Quartet is known as a contemporary music expert (of the 300 works that make up their repertoire, 200 were written no later than in the 20th century), having performed over 40 world premieres, most of which were dedicated to the performers themselves.
And that’s probably not at all surprising, as the collective performs each work with such deep musical feeling, stylistic precision, and quickly creates impressive, dramatic musical dialogues.
Harnessing the power of music, the performers will paint an impressive landscape of the Baltic countries in our very own St. Catherine’s Church.

Programme - H. M. Górecki, A. Pärt , M. K. Čiurlionis, P. Vasks, and others.

Concert duration: 80 min.
