HANDICRAFT EXHIBITION, FAIR AND CONCERT OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES 

It has become a beautiful tradition for each Autumn during the Vilnius City Fiesta to organise a fair-concert for the republic community of the disabled called „For you – Vilnius!”. Since 2003 this event is organised by the Lithuanian special creation union “Guboja”. The event is partly financed from funds of the Department of disability affairs near the Social security and labour ministry. Since this year the event has grown to entire fairs of the disabled community called „Būkime kartu!“ („Let‘s be together“). The fairs were held in different regions of the country such as Marijampolė, Ukmergė and Telšiai.

The festivity „For you Vilnius!” which is organised for the 12^th time is a chance for people with disabilities to show their creative achievements and strength of will to the society. It is foreseen that about 1500 authors with disabilities from more than a 100 organisations will participate. During the whole event these people will be supported by cadets from the Jonas Žemaitis military academy and also by schoolchildren. The cathedral square will host live acts not only from the best art collectives of the disabled but also from  Lithuanian army honour sentry-unit orchestra (art director Egidijus Ališauskas), national reed instrument orchestra „Trimitas“ (head of the orchestra Ugnius Vaiginis), dixieland „Sweetband“ (head of band Karolis Pratkus). Merchandise in the fair will be presented and sold by the disabled folk-craft masters and homeworkers from all around the country.
